Former Canal Player Emily Fluke Joins The NWHL!

2015 First Team ACHA All-American Emily Fluke to Make Her NWHL Debut after Signing with Connecticut

BROOKLYN, NY – Emily Fluke, who as a senior with Middlebury College was honored in 2015 as a CCM First-Team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association, has signed with the Connecticut Whale. It is a return to the state for Fluke, who attended the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, and was captain of the ice hockey, field hockey and lacrosse teams during her senior year.

“I’m really happy to turn pro and return to Connecticut to play for the Whale,” said Fluke, a 5-5 forward. “When college ended, I wasn’t ready to stop playing hockey, so to be able to do it in the highly-competitive NWHL is a dream come true. I could not have done it without the unwavering support of my family. I’m grateful for this opportunity.”

In 2014-15, Fluke was also named the New England Hockey Writers Association's Division II-III Women's Player of the Year and the NESCAC Player of the Year. She led the conference with 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points in 28 games. For her collegiate career, she was 54-61-115.

“I loved Middlebury,” said Fluke. “Coach [Bill] Mandigo and all of the coaches gave me the opportunity to develop both on and off the ice. I am so thankful for the friendships with my teammates and know they will last well beyond my hockey career.”

Fluke graduated cum laude from Middlebury, where she majored in Economics and played lacrosse and hockey in her first two years before deciding to focus solely on hockey. She works in private wealth management for First Republic Bank and is a registered client service associate with Series 7 and Series 66 licenses. “I’ve enjoyed working with the people and I love the company,” said Fluke.

Last season, Fluke was an assistant coach for the U-13 New England Pride. “Thank you to Jimmy and Doug Michaels, program directors of the Pride, for their dedication to the sport of women’s hockey and their help in my training,” she said. “I couldn’t stay away from the sport I love.”
